This road is fairly short (about 50-60 kilometers, depending on your route), but packs quite a punch in terms of motorcycling adventure. The best place to take it is in the city of Resita, although you can also find it in Slatina-Timis on the major E70 highway, between Caransebes and Orsova.

For more details on how to find the road, read the description of Highway DN58B. In Resita, it is fairly easy to find it, by following the many signs pointing you to Semenic. Semenic is a nationally known ski resort and the route there is popular.

From the city, the road begins a narrow but stunning ascent into the mountains. The views are beautiful, beset by lush pine forests and tiny villages perched on the mountainsides. The road winds upward, mile after mile, sharp turn after sharp turn. The road is asphalted for the first 25 kilometers, but quite rough and marred by potholes. You could really get into an intoxicating rhythm as you move the bike from one side to the other, were it not for the surprising potholes that throw a wrench in your dance. The road can be a real challenge, particularly when you meet an oncoming logging truck.

Past the quaint village of Valiug, the road turns right and as you climb the mountain, you ride on cobblestone, which finally gives way to just dirt. If you are riding a high-powered crotch rocket this is not an easy route. But,  the ride through the thick forests, followed by the steep climb through the pines, filled with hairpin after hairpin turn and panoramic views is absolutely worth it. And, once at the top of the mountain, past the tree line, the view is an unencumbered 360-degree vista—Fantastic!

Descending from the ski resort back to the road, you have the option of taking a right, and descending the eastern slope of the mountain, toward Slatina-Timis. There is a major caveat here—most of the remaining 30 kilometers are on a combination of cobblestone, rough roads and about 10 kilometers of dirt. The views are incredible and the experience is amazing. But, if you ride a low bike (cruiser or sport bike), be warned that the road is best suited for off-road or dual-sport bikes.  The ride goes through Brebu Nou, and from there, it is practically a long 18-kilometer descent into Slatina-Timis, marked by sharp turns through forests, across streams and around boulders.

The road and the entire area is very popular with off-road and enduro riders, who have an entire network of forest and alpine roads at their disposal. For an off-road rider, this is paradise.
